Even a global pandemic could not stop passionate ISACA® members and their families from serving their communities. On 3 October 2020, 100 teams of ISACA members from around the world came together to give back for the second annual ISACA CommunITy Day, totaling more than 7,000 hours of volunteering.

Ideas for volunteer activities were especially creative this year to ensure that pandemic safety protocols were met. Participants in Karachi, Pakistan, taught a “Digital Security for Teachers” course that discussed how to use digital media safely with students during the pandemic. Volunteers in the Republic of Malta helped refurbish a new shelter for domestic violence survivors. In San Salvador, El Salvador, volunteers donated food and cooking utensils to low-income families. The Birmingham, Alabama, USA, chapter hosted a virtual game of trivia to earn rice donations for the World Food Programme.

Overall, 55 countries were represented during the second annual CommunITy Day and participants planned 131 different opportunities, an increase from last year. The second annual CommunITy Day successfully made a meaningful difference across the globe, thanks to ISACA’s incredible, passionate community. Mark your calendars for next year. The annual event will take place on 2 October 2021.
